RSS: September 2010 coolest month of the year so far

RSS AMSU have released their global temperature data for September 2010. The global anomaly was at +0.525 °C which is the lowest anomaly in 2010 so far - but it was enough to keep September 2010 the warmest September on the RSS record; it's followed by +0.494 °C in September 1998.

Note that the satellite datasets - UAH and RSS - actually and unusually show 2010 as relatively warmer than the surface datasets such as HadCRUT3 and GISS. The latter two identified July 2010 and August 2010 as the 7th warmest July and August, respectively. We will have to wait for the September figures from HadCRUT3 and GISS.
