Hubble mostly blind

The Hubble Space Telescope has lost its survey camera, probably for good, because of a short circuit. This device gave us most of the popular pictures including some of those relevant for the research of dark energy. It was expected to last 5 years and it lasted for 4.9 years. Not bad.
