"Well, as you can probably guess, I'm not so much a lame duck now as a dead duck."
Robert H. Tuttle
U.S. Ambassador to Britain
(July 2005-January 2009)
(Quoted here the morning after Barack Obama’s election victory)
The writer in forbes.com says: “His Excellency would be forgiven for feeling a little sore about what he is about to give up: He has entertained the cream of British high society in his ambassadorial residence, Winfield House, a stunning home set in 12 acres of Regent's Park in London--in a nutshell, the most prime real estate. Tuttle's wife has even written a book about the residence. Looking on the bright side though, he probably won't be quite so out of pocket.”
