SFRC Clears 14 State Dept Nominations

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee cleared the following nominations yesterday (reported on November 17, 2009 by Mr. Kerry without printed report). These nominations now go to the Senate for a full vote.

Jose W. Fernandez, of New York, to be anAssistant Secretary of State (Economic,Energy, and Business Affairs), vice Daniel S.Sullivan, resigned.

Frederick D. Barton, of Maine, to beRepresentative of the United States ofAmerica on the Economic and Social Councilof the United Nations, with the rank ofAmbassador.
