Future of Physics at KITP

This picture of the KITP under construction I took in May 2004 was added in October 2009. Click to zoom in.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
let's roll. A person at Peter Woit's blog

http://www.math.columbia.edu/~woit/blog/

reminded me of my Czech blogspot

http://lumo.blogspot.com/

which has not been edited for more than one year.

Although this day is not special in the history of the Universe, it may be good enough to establish this new reference frame. I am not exactly sure whether this is the last posting, but we can try.

Today I listened to some talks at the conference about the "Future of Physics" which are available online at

http://online.itp.ucsb.edu/online/kitp25/.

I highly recommend you the talks by our new awarded heroes, namely Gross and Wilczek, but the talks by Witten, Weinberg are also interesting. I guess that the recommendation should also apply to Nati Seiberg's talk and Savas Dimopoulos's session featuring Tom Banks, Lisa Randall, Michael Peskin, and Nima Arkani-Hamed, but I have not seen it yet.

Today, we discussed various qualities of string theory as well as the interpretation of 15 different experimental scenarios at the LHC collider. Unfortunately, it is not quite possible to repeat everything that has happened in my life so far, and therefore you will simply have to catch up.

As far as I know, this blog does not allow you to comment on my opinions (wow, it does!), but you can always send me an e-mail, and if your important statements are related to string theory, you can post them - or try to post them - at the sci.physics.strings newsgroup, see

http://schwinger.harvard.edu/~sps/ ...

All the best
Luboš
