Quickie: An Ambassadorship in His Mind

You've probably seen already the news of the Illinois Governor's arrest. U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald said that the federal authorities arrested Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich this morning because the governor went on "a political corruption crime spree" that needed to be stopped.

Item 91 of the USA v. Rod R. Blagojevich, and John Harris criminal complaint, has the following nugget:

91. On November 4, 2008, ROD BLAGOJEVICH spoke with Deputy Governor A. This was the same day as the United States Presidential election. With respect to the Senate seat, Deputy Governor A suggested putting together a list of things that ROD BLAGOJEVICH would accept in exchange for the Senate seat. ROD BLAGOJEVICH responded that the list “can’t be in writing.” Thereafter, ROD BLAGOJEVICH discussed whether he could obtain an ambassadorship in exchange for the Senate seat.

I don't know about you but I'm glad Mr. Fitzgerald got him first.
